Strategic Food
Freeze-dried food engineered to stay ready — light, stable and deployable.
Strategic Food is the preservation layer of the chain. Freeze-drying gently removes up to 99% of moisture at low temperatures under vacuum, protecting the food's original taste, color, aroma and valuable nutrients — producing food that is easy to store, easy to transport and quick to rehydrate, without refrigeration or preservatives.

Preserved food feeds the planning layer: stable, weighable, transportable units that a stockpile or an aid kit can be designed around.
Freeze drying is a premium preservation technology that keeps food close to its natural best — light, flavorful, nutritious, and ready whenever needed. By gently removing up to 99% of moisture at low temperatures under vacuum, freeze drying protects the food's original taste, color, aroma and valuable nutrients far better than conventional drying methods.

What is Fresh Weight Equivalent (FWE)?
Fresh Weight Equivalent (FWE) indicates the approximate original weight of the food before freeze-drying. It helps users understand the real quantity of fresh food contained in a lightweight freeze-dried pack — for example, 100 g of freeze-dried product may be equivalent to 800 g of fresh food.
If FWE is 8, it means the wet weight is 8 times more than its freeze-dried form.
Six reasons freeze-dried food behaves like strategic food
Each of these is a property of the preservation method itself, exactly as described in the WeArt catalogue.
- 01
Long-term storage
Designed for long-term storage and emergency reserves — 5–7 years of stable shelf life, and up to 20 years under specific packaging and storage conditions.
- 02
Lower transport weight
Up to 90% lighter than conventional food, so more usable food can be moved per container or pallet.
- 03
Reduced refrigeration
Can be stored at room temperature when properly packaged — removing a dependency that is costly or unavailable in remote operations.
- 04
Taste, colour, aroma, nutrients
Low-temperature vacuum drying protects the food's original taste, colour, aroma and valuable nutrients far better than conventional drying methods.
- 05
Fast preparation
Quick to rehydrate without refrigeration or preservatives. Add water, rehydrate, serve.
- 06
Emergency readiness
Ready-to-prepare foods can be deployed quickly with water — up to 6× servings per shipped container compared with conventional foods like canned food.
